Although Abdulghani Akhras is a Syrian nationale, has lived in several different countries such as Lebanon, Syria, Malaysia and he’s currently based in Ireland. He travelled to Malaysia to pursue the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Information and Communication Technology at Limkokwing University.
“Studying Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Information and Communication Technology taught me a number of broad IT skills, which were invaluable in getting me my first IT position. From the programming courses that we took such as C++, Java and Web development, I enjoyed the process of programming, and the problem solving that comes with it, so much that it became clear to me that this is the track I wanted to steer my career on,” he says.
Limkokwing University has a vibrant multi-national and multicultural community that welcomes everyone. “I am grateful for the support and guidance received by the course directors and staff throughout my degree which helped shape my overall experience,” he adds.
Today, Abdulghani works as a Senior Full Stack Engineer and Lead UI Engineer at IBM. He is also the CTO and Founder of Digital Gateway Agency.

On a day to day, Abdulghani works on the AppID Service within IBM Cloud which allows users to easily add authentication to web and mobile apps. “They no longer have to worry about setting up infrastructure for identity, ensuring geo-availability, and confirming compliance regulations,” he says. “Instead, they can enhance their apps with advanced security capabilities like multifactor authentication and single sign-on.”
Abdulghani has always had a passion for tech and found his calling in the area of development. “I strived to be a developer and nothing more for a very long time and this gives me fulfilment,” he says.
