Striving to lead in the creation of progressive human settlements in order to enhance the socio – economic status in Lesotho and to also solidify positive collaboration between the Corporation and Limkokwing, the Lesotho Housing and Land Development Corporation gave Limkokwing University of Creative Technology third year students from the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment an opportunity to re- design the entrance of two of the corporation’s estates: (Friebel and Leseli Estate) with a sum of M3000.00 price tag to each winning design.

During the award giving ceremony, the Managing Director of the Corporation - Mrs. Matekane stated that in addition to strengthening strategic alliances between the University and the corporation, Lesotho Housing and Land Development corporation gave this platform to Limkowking University’s Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment students as a platform to build on their profiles and flaunt their creativity.

Through hard work, dedication and expertise that include creativity and innovation gained during their course of study, Ts’eliso Moopisa and Ts’epang Nkopane rose above the rest by obtaining first place where Ts’epang won for designing the entrance of Friebel Estate and Ts’eliso won for designing the entrance of Leseli Estate.

In his triumph Nkopane, highlighted that the win was one of his best achievements this year as it made him realise his potential and his ability as a Designer.

Mrs. ‘Matlholiso Motlomelo, the corporation’s Executive Head- property Development and Management showed that Nkopane’s design stood out among the rest because it was influenced by a blend of traditional and contemporary elements, incorporating the timeless charm of a gable roof with a rich texture of sandstone, complemented by accents of white paint and roof tiles. She further elaborated their architectural idea as embracing current design concepts while honouring the elegance of old craftsmanship, creating an entrance that is not only aesthetically pleasing but long-lasting and useful.

On the other hand she showed that Moopisa took the trophy with his astonishing yet elegant design of the Friebel Estate entrance because it was mostly driven by low cost of construction, the use of locally available materials yet with an appealing contemporary feel.  Moopisa used a touch of red clay bricks to pay tribute to the estate buildings as they are built using red clay bricks.

On behalf of Limkokwing University students Moopisa extended his gratitude to the Corporation’s Management for providing a great platform to students of his calibre. Limkokwing University’s environment is one that fosters growth and equips students with the knowledge necessary to turn the impossible possible. He advised all Limkokwing university students to grab opportunities with both hands, work to the last drop of their sweat while flaunting their creativity as such dedication can open new doors to their careers as creatives.
