Ahmad Daleen, a Limkokwing alumnus from Syria, is the co-creator of Deemples, an app to connect golfers worldwide. Deemples has recently secured USD2 million in funding from a Singapore-based venture capital firm.

In April 2022, we ran his story on our portal, and today, we are excited that he has made this fantastic breakthrough.

Ahmad Daleen holds a Masters in Business Administration after completing a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Software Engineering with Multimedia. Both qualifications are from Limkokwing University. “Limkokwing University helped me to love and understand software engineering even without a background passion for it, and the coursework exposed me to different players in the industry.”

Ahmad described his app Deemples as a “golfers’ heaven”. Considered revolutionary and a game-changer, Deemples is designed to bring golfers together in a way never attempted before. Ahmad saw the opportunity in the lack of a centralised platform for players to connect, organise games and build a thriving community. With a few taps on their smartphones, golfers can effortlessly find playing partners, schedule games, and immerse themselves in a vibrant social network of fellow golf enthusiasts. It’s like having a personal caddie for your golfing needs without the hefty price tag.

“Our app helps golfers find other players to join their flight, so no golfer is left alone. To put it simply, we joke about it and call it “tinder for golf.” We built an app that golfers use to find each other, join, and pay for golf games/events easily. I run the product and technology for Deemples, ensuring the product delivers value for golfers and making sure the tech behind it is efficient and scalable,” said Ahmad.

The funding from Singapore’s V Ventures is to conquer the Southeast Asian market. For Ahmad this investment is more than the money; it’s about strategic growth and taking Deemples to new heights. “We will use the funds to build a scalable best-in-class product, with a keen focus on relentless innovation, market fit, and to ultimately expand into untapped markets,” he said.

By tackling a critical gap in the sport’s ecosystem, Deemples has democratised access to golf games, allowing players of all skill levels to tee off and enjoy the sport without the traditional barriers. “This is important to the mission of providing the best borderless golfing experience for our community, enabling golf enthusiasts to connect, play, and enjoy the game anywhere.”

But that’s not all! Golf clubs and courses have also reaped the benefits of Deemples’ success. Thanks to the app’s convenience, more golfers flock to these venues, and the courses have seen a surge in footfall and revenue. It’s a win-win for everyone involved. “Deemples has been a great partner to us and other golf courses. We are excited to see what our future with Deemples holds for the golf community in Malaysia,” said Admiral (rtd) Mohd Anwar Nor, President of the Malaysian Golf Association and Executive Chairman of The Mines Resort and Golf Club.

“In the last two years, amidst COVID, we have helped the golf industry in Malaysia generate over RM4.5m in additional revenue. Revenue that wouldn’t have happened if golfers weren’t able to find each other. We’ll continue to help the golf industry grow and at the same time help the wider travel/hospitality industry as golfers consume adjacent products/services,” said Ahmad.

As Deemples expands its reach across Southeast Asia, it plans to introduce cutting-edge features like advanced matchmaking algorithms, personalised game recommendations, and seamless integration with golf club management systems.

Ahmad’s journey hasn’t been a walk in the park. Building a startup from scratch requires resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering belief in his vision. Ahmad faced numerous obstacles, from securing initial funding to navigating the competitive tech startup landscape. But his perseverance and the support of his dedicated team were the driving forces that propelled Deemples forward.

One of the biggest challenges was educating the market about Deemples’ value. Traditional golfers were initially sceptical about using a digital platform to organise their games, but Ahmad and his team didn’t back down. Through workshops, partnerships with golf clubs, and targeted marketing campaigns, they gradually won over the golfing community, proving that Deemples wasn’t just a passing fad – it was the future of golf.

As Deemples continues redefining the golfing experience, it’s not just about building a successful startup but about impacting the sport Ahmad Daleen loves. His story is a testament to the power of passion, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of one’s dreams. Ahmad’s journey from a Limkokwing University alumnus to a tech trailblazer proves that dreams can become reality when you have the vision and the courage to swing for the fences.
